Where should we go?

A pattern is starting to happen as we tell our friends and so many new friends about the journey we are about to take. Everyone seems to have one special place that has left an impression on them so strongly that it is the first place that pops into their mind to tell us about. At first, I tried to remember what I heard, so that when we start to create our path of where we are heading, I will write it down into the column of: Possible Places to Visit. However with each new person telling us interesting information from their experiences, such as "You must go to visit the Navajo Reservation in Arizona and get a personalized tour" and "Did you know when you visit Maine there are no public bathrooms?" the information in my head is beginning to become muddled and forgotten.

We thought it would be a good thing to add to this blog the question, Where should we go?

If you have a great idea in mind for us to experience that you loved, feel free to post your comment to this blog post and we will continue to check it for ideas! Thanks for your help!

Hi Rain!

I think this blog is a great idea! I'll let you know if I think of anywhere you *should* go although our family has not traveled much in the south. Please keep us posted!

Take the TRAM to the top of Sandia Peak, Albuquerque, NM. On the ride up, watch for bears and mountain lions below you. From above 10,000 feet, watch the Sun set to the West and the darkness slip over Albuquerque.

View Niagara Falls from the Canadian side at night. Note that those ever-independent Canadians insist on calling it "Horseshoe Falls, but do a wonderful job of providing lighting. Having built the suspense for your boys that night, next morning take them on the "Maid of the Mist" excursion boat that sails right up to the front of the falls. Feel the Power!

I always say, one of the most beautiful places I have ever been is Zion National Park. (It was also the hottest place I have ever been! But we were there in July.) I would love to hear about your visit to Zion and see if you come away with the same feelings.

On your way back down South, stop by Sedona, AZ.

It's where Tara and I went for our first trip.

Words can't descibe it. And there are plenty of places to camp/hook-up RVs.

Never thought of myself as a big Georgia O'Keefe fan but had one of those walking-on-the-moon moments at her ranch outside of Santa Fe. Walking around Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu watching the mesas across the desert turn shades of purple in the sunset just blew me away! I had no idea the desert could be so beautiful. There is a lot to explore in that corner of NM. Definitely call ahead or check into this, I think access to the ranch is strictly limited- just a handful of people a day.
